In the Shadows was the 1st black and white piece I ever did.  I used to steer clear of using black in my pieces because I thought it was just dark.  This piece was done when I felt I was sort of living in the shadows and a little lost.  I look at it now and the black and white are just a symbol of day and night, Yin and Yang - the light from the male and female side of everyone.  Everyone walks thru shadows sometimes, but then hopefully, they find the light again. Those shadows and going thru them, help make you who you are because of how you walked thru them.
